Wildfires are threatening houses and communities in Canada at an increasing rate. Traditional methods of housing construction and housing materials leave exterior envelopes vulnerable to the stresses that wildfires can impose: embers, direct flames, and extreme heat.

Applying wildfire resilient housing measures can reduce potential damage to structures and lead to synergies with energy efficient construction.

Lucas Coletta, M.Eng., Senior Engineer, Natural Resources Canada will highlight how to design and construct houses to be more resilient to wildfires.
